A Faithful Recreation of The Movie Sets—Step into The Magical World

On the tour, the iconic sets from the Harry Potter films are faithfully recreated in great detail, giving you the feeling of stepping right into the movies. From the moment you arrive at the station, you can gradually feel the Harry Potter atmosphere. On the platform, there’s a British-style phone booth, and the train you arrived on is decorated with prints of Harry and his friends.

Once inside, you’ll be greeted by a dragon, and you can enjoy a meal in a space that resembles the dining hall from the movies. There are also plenty of lockers available for your belongings, so you can enjoy the tour without carrying your luggage.

As the tour begins, iconic scenes from the films come to life, including the Great Hall of Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and the Hogwarts Express. It’s said that the floor of the Great Hall has been recreated using the same stones that were used in the movies.

Authentic costumes and props used in the film are also on display, allowing you to feel the world of the characters in a real way.

Especially for Harry Potter fans, you can see magical wands, cloaks, and more up close, making it an enjoyable experience for fans of all generations.

By the way, the moving stairs actually moved!

The Forbidden Forest is also faithfully recreated. You can see Hippogriffs, the flying Ford Anglia, and Aragog. Additionally, in this area, you can experience summoning a Patronus to ward off Dementors.

You can also have a meal during the tour. There are some outdoor terrace seats available, but it was extremely crowded, so I decided to skip dining here. You can also eat at the entrance, which is likely to be less crowded if you don’t specifically want to dine in this area.

So far, it felt like I had experienced about half of the tour.

Diagon Alley has a texture that makes you feel as if you’re really there. It’s filled with photo spots, and this is definitely a place where you should take pictures. The lighting changes, creating a night and day effect, but there are colorful buildings, so I personally recommend taking photos during the daytime.

Platform 9¾ is also recreated, and you can enter the Hogwarts Express. There are some interesting details inside, so be sure to take a look! There’s also a cart embedded in the wall on display, so grab the cart and try to recreate a scene from the movie (a photo is a must!).

Personally, I really liked the area where the Ministry of Magic is recreated. While you can’t enter inside, the exterior of the building was detailed and well-crafted.

Towards the end of the tour, there’s a diorama of Hogwarts Castle. I love miniature displays like this, so I took my time to carefully examine the intricate details from all 360 degrees!

Entertainment That Allows You to Learn about The behind-The-Scenes of The Movies

At “The Making of Harry Potter,” you can learn about the production processes hidden behind the scenes of the films. By discovering how special effects, creature design, and CGI techniques were utilized, you’ll be able to enjoy the movies from a new perspective.

Additionally, the intricate techniques used to create magical creatures and the display of artwork are also highlights of the tour. You can thoroughly explore how the world of the movies was crafted and delve into the behind-the-scenes processes.

Experience The Magical World Yourself—Interactive Attractions

At “The Making of Harry Potter,” there are plenty of interactive attractions where you can experience the magical world for yourself. You can don a Hogwarts robe for a photo and use a wand to cast spells, making it a favorite among families. For children in particular, being able to immerse themselves in the magical world and experience it firsthand will create lasting memories.

Using composited footage, you can cheer for Quidditch, recreate scenes of going to the Ministry of Magic, become a moving painting, or ride a broomstick. There are various opportunities for immersive video experiences throughout the tour, so be sure to participate!

Bring Home The Magic with Souvenirs and Gourmet Treats

At the end of the tour, there’s a shop where you can get original merchandise related to magic. You can purchase Harry Potter wands, Hogwarts uniforms, and even sweets featured in the films. Enjoying your time while sipping Butterbeer and immersing yourself in the magical world is truly special.

One important note is that you can purchase souvenirs in the area where the Hogwarts Express is located, and there are items that can only be bought here. Therefore, if you see something you want, I recommend buying it here instead of planning to purchase it later.

Be Sure to Experience A Day in The Magical World!

The “The Making of Harry Potter” studio tour in Tokyo is recommended not only for Harry Potter fans but also for movie lovers, families, and couples. Enjoy a special experience where you can fully immerse yourself in the magical world while learning about the behind-the-scenes of the films. Why not incorporate this studio tour into your itinerary as a new highlight of your trip to Tokyo? The tour itself takes about 4 to 5 hours, so you can have a full day of fun!
